Overview

Provides assistance in support of the implementation of the "Vanishing Treasures” project and related activities, focusing on the nexus between nature and climate action in mountain ecosystems within the Andean and wider LAC region.

Tasks Summary
  • Works with key partners and stakeholders to provide technical and administrative support for project development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Assists in defining and establishing synergies and cooperation aligned with SDGs, MTS, and the KM-Global Biodiversity Framework.
  • Carries out basic research on thematic aspects, operations, and activities related to mountain ecosystems and climate change.
  • Provides substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions.
  • Assists in performing consulting assignments by planning and facilitating workshops and developing action plans.
  • Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, including draft background papers, analytical notes, and sections of reports.
  • Provides administrative and substantive support to meetings, conferences, and other events.
  • Undertakes outreach activities related to the global mountains programme and assigned projects.
  • Participates in field missions, providing substantive and administrative support and data collection.
  • Coordinates activities related to budget funding and prepares related documents and reports.
  • Contributes to the collection and analysis of data, identification of trends, and provides draft insights using data visualization methods.
Experience Requirements

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project management, including experience in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem-based adaptation/nature-based solutions is required. Experience working in sustainable mountain development including experience in (Tropical) Andes region is required. Experience working in wildlife conservation with large carnivores in the Andes region such as the jaguar or spectacled bear is required. Experience with policy and strategy development (national/regional level) and previous experience working in international organizations is desirable. Experience in developing tools, methodologies, and guidance, preferably with a focus on the nature-related aspects of climate change adaptation and wildlife conservation is desirable. A minimum of one (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable (none if successful YPP or P-1 with a related degree).

Qualification Requirements

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree, equivalent or higher) in a field relevant to tropical mountains, ecosystem management and restoration, biodiversity and wildlife conservation, climate change adaptation/ Nature-based solutions, including environmental sciences, sustainable development or a related field is required. A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
