Overview

The Programme Analyst, SRHR provides technical, operational, and coordination efforts for UNFPA’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) portfolio in southern Shan State. The role facilitates collaboration between UN agencies, NGOs, and ethnic health organizations to ensure integrated SRHR support.

Tasks Summary
  • Contributes substantively to the formulation and design of the country programme and its component projects.
  • Ensures quality of programme / project design incorporating lessons learned, newly developed policies and best practices.
  • Analyzes and interprets the political, social and economic environment relevant to population and development, sexual and reproductive health, gender equality and adolescents and youth empowerment.
  • Keeps abreast of new policy developments and strategies analyzing policy papers, strategy documents, national plans and development frameworks.
  • Expedites and coordinates project implementation establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts and other UN agencies.
  • Helps create and document knowledge about current and emerging population development trends, SRH, including maternal health, related human rights and gender issues.
  • Assists advocacy and resource mobilization efforts of Country Office by preparing relevant documentation and participating in donor meetings.
  • Provides technical advice and capacity development in relation to the advancement of SRHR, including maternal health, the professionalization of midwifery and the timely estimation and/or provision of RH commodities.
  • Coordinates and/or represents UNFPA in any local platforms on health related matters, including humanitarian coordination structures, clusters and leads the local SRH Working group.
Experience Requirements

Minimum two years’ professional experience in the field of SRHR activities, preferably programme/ project management. Proven working experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights. State of the art knowledge on family planning and contraceptive technologies, including maternal health and experience of working with vulnerable communities. Knowledge and understanding of conflict sensitivity and “do no harm” approach is an asset.

Qualification Requirements

Advanced degree in health, medical studies, population, demography and/or other related social science field.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in oral and written English and Myanmar is essential with ability to write clearly and concisely and to compose correspondence and documents in both languages.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of local languages in UNFPA target states and regions is an asset.

Contract Duration: The Programme Document (2018-2022) for Myanmar was approved by the Executive Board in September 2017 and extended up to the end of 2026.
