Overview

The Protection Officer (Legal Aid Officer) is responsible for delivering high quality legal aid services to beneficiaries, contributing to evidence-based advocacy, and supporting mobile outreach and awareness raising programs.

Tasks Summary

• Provide high quality one-on-one legal counseling to conflict-affected population.
• Organize and facilitate community-level group awareness-raising programs.
• Provide administrative and other para-legal assistance.
• Support preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/reports.
• Participate in coaching and capacity building of implementing partners.
• Contribute contextual and needs analysis.
• Participate in analyzing legal issues for drafting information materials.
• Assist in conducting legal and protection assessments.
• Facilitate and follow up incoming and outgoing protection referral cases.
• Represent DRC at meetings and other relevant technical coordination meetings.
• Coordinate with other departments in DRC.
• Contribute to and provide field-related inputs for proposals for funding.
• Provide regular reports to the Protection Manager.

Experience Requirements

Minimum two (2) years of proven legal experience, preferably in the field of humanitarian response for an NGO. Experience working with vulnerable and conflict-affected people.

Qualification Requirements

Bachelors degree in law.

Other Details

Languages Required: Ukrainian language skills required.

Languages Preferred: Good English language skills preferred.

Contract Duration: after successfully completing a 3-month probationary period, with the possibility of extension depending on performance and funding.
