Overview

The Senior Finance Associate provides support in financial management matters for the IOM Washington DC global office and its sub-offices, and the IOM Office to the United Nations in New York. The role involves coordinating budget preparation, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial rules and procedures.

Tasks Summary
  • Coordinate the preparation of budgets, financial and statistical reports, donor reports, and financial analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with IOM Financial Management Rules and Procedures (FMRP) and International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
  • Review financial data and reports to identify anomalies and recommend improvements.
  • Supervise, coach, and train finance support staff.
  • Review, validate, and process all financial transactions in IOM accounting systems.
  • Monitor and reconcile all transactions.
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly accounts for the office and sub-offices.
  • Coordinate and perform treasury transactions.
  • Support the preparation and revision of annual budgets.
  • Monitor budget execution and analyse variances.
  • Support Project and Programme Managers in the financial management of projects.
  • Assist in the review of financial reports submitted by implementing partners.
  • Review and reconcile receipts related to staff refunds, travel loan repayments, and other income transactions.
  • Serve as the office administrator for payment cards.
  • Support internal and external financial audits.
  • Participate in senior staff coordination and management meetings.
  • Liaise and coordinate with headquarters, administrative centres, the Regional Office, and external counterparts.
Experience Requirements
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
  • Experience in Oracle is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in training and coordinating teams.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finances, or related field with five years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • High School diploma with seven years of relevant experience
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluent in English (oral and written)

Languages Preferred: • Working knowledge in other languages.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality:

Remuneration: G7, Step 1 (USD 7482.25 Monthly)
