Overview

This internship supports the Strategic Force Generation and Capability Planning Cell with research, data analysis, and the preparation of various materials related to peacekeeping operations.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in conducting research on issues related to Strategic Force Generation and Capability Planning;
  • Assist in undertaking survey initiatives; designing data collection tools; reviewing, analyzing and interpreting responses.
  • Assist in the creation of data visualizations, especially in MS PowerPoint and Power BI.
  • Assist in the review of various policies, papers and other documents/materials as they relate to the team;
  • Assist with data collection, aggregation, integration, analysis, visualization.
  • Assist in preparing reports, concept papers, policy documents, talking points, articles and other materials;
  • Attend and take notes at conferences and meetings;
  • Assist in servicing conferences and meetings;
  • Assist in maintaining/managing databases;
  • Assist with project management development;
  • Perform other duties as required.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements

A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. (The field of study should be social sciences, including international relations, politics, law, economics, statistics or a related field, including technical/data/business-related fields).

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Contract Duration: 3 - 6 months

Work Modality: Flexible (hybrid, all remote, or in-person)

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
