Overview

To support the stewardship of WFP’s resources, monitoring budgets, forecasting, reporting on key data and providing basic administrative and human resource functions that enable effective management of funds, and ensure assistance to beneficiaries is undertaken in the most efficient and effective way possible.

Tasks Summary
  • Maintain awareness of corporate finance and resource management strategies and major ongoing programmatic initiatives.
  • Contribute towards the development of country specific plans and processes.
  • Report on key data for financial status and outcomes of projects.
  • Monitor budgets and carry out forecasting for new and ongoing projects.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, disbursements, clearance of receivables, overall cash management and monthly financial closures.
  • Manage Treasury operations including monitoring and replenishments of bank accounts, and petty cash.
  • Perform NDG (non-donor grants) functions.
  • Collate data and contribute to preparation of accurate and timely reporting.
  • Track and collate data to support others to improve policies, systems and procedures.
  • Contribute to the delivery of financial controls and insight into WFP performance.
  • Guide and supervise more junior staff.
  • Represent unit/CO at internal meetings, external meetings and events.
  • Follow standard emergency preparedness practices.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned.
Experience Requirements

At least 5 years of overall experience, including 3 years of Professional Experience (managerial or supervisory) in areas related to Finance or other relevant fields. Within these 3 years of professional experience, a minimum of 1 year of experience must be after postgraduation. Demonstrated experience in conducting basic financial analyses at national and operational levels. Proven experience in managing and overseeing financial transactions.

Qualification Requirements

Completion of Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent). Education in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or any relevant field is preferable.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written both in English and Bangla language.

Languages Preferred: Additional membership in a recognized professional accountancy body (e.g., Association of Chartered Accountants) is an advantage.
