National Project Officer -(Immigration and Border Governance-(IBG)) -Selibaby

Overview

The incumbent will provide technical support to the Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) programme in Mauritania, focusing on enhancing border management capacities and supporting the strategic development and implementation of migrants’ human-rights and protection approaches.

Tasks Summary
  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of IBG project activities.
  • Manage and supervise the IBG team in the Sélibaby area.
  • Draft strategic documents, Memoranda of Understanding, cooperation plans, and talking points.
  • Monitor and analyze the national and regional IBG context, including international law and geopolitical factors.
  • Deliver presentations and training modules to beneficiaries.
  • Monitor budgetary, administrative, and technical aspects of the programme.
  • Support procurement processes and rehabilitation projects.
  • Orient and monitor project implementation and local partner work.
  • Coordinate capacity-building meetings and activities.
  • Strengthen coordination with governmental entities, embassies, UN agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Supervise, train, and provide technical support to project staff.
  • Undertake professional travel for project activities and partner liaison.
Experience Requirements
  • Experience in legal professions, the judiciary, law enforcement, immigration, project development, donor relations, operations and/or management.
  • Experience in supporting IBG projects and programs.
  • Capacity to deliver IBG-related trainings/workshops to Government officials.
  • Experience working in migration, law enforcement, human rights or inter-governmental cooperation.
  • Previous experience in support to training plans, statements of works, standard operating procedures and detailed instructions.
  • Experience in support to donor project management, programmatically and financially, with IOM or with a UN agency, will be an added advantage.
Qualification Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Law, Security studies, International Law, Political Science, Conflict Resolution or any other related field from an accredited academic institution.
  • University degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.
