Overview
The Senior Media and Communications Associate contributes to media and public relations, internal and external communication activities, and implements media and communication initiatives covering IOM activities in Ireland.
Tasks Summary
- Maintain liaison with media, counterparts, civil society, and stakeholders to inform them on IOM’s activities and promote visibility.
- Support the drafting and rollout of the country office communication framework and identify opportunities for new communication initiatives.
- Coordinate online presence and produce regular content for social media platforms.
- Draft press releases, feature stories, articles, and op-eds, and coordinate media briefings.
- Monitor media coverage and inform relevant parties of communication issues and media trends.
- Maintain effective working relations with media representatives and press offices of partners.
- Coordinate the preparation and dissemination of information and outreach materials.
- Contribute to the integration of media and communication components into project activities and budgets.
- Supervise and provide guidance to assigned staff members and interns.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Experience Requirements
- Five years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Political Sciences, or a related field.
- Seven years of relevant professional experience with a High school diploma.
- Strong communication skills, including experience in media and communication and interaction with media.
- Knowledge of relevant Irish institutions in the field of media and communications and migration is an asset.
- Previous work experience in the field of media/communications at national and/or international level.
- Experience using standard web content management system (CMS), graphic design software and social media platforms.
- Experience working in an international or multicultural environment is an advantage.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Political Sciences, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
- High school diploma.
