Overview

This internship focuses on public information activities within the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs. The role supports the Office's overall direction, external relations, and public information efforts.

Tasks Summary
  • Prepare written outputs such as background papers, briefing notes, factsheets, and website content.
  • Draft speeches, statements, and talking points for the Director.
  • Support outreach activities and public information campaigns.
  • Assist with communications for capacity-building initiatives and events.
  • Draft and publish social media content across the Office’s platforms.
  • Source or coordinate the creation of visual assets and maintain content calendars.
  • Track incoming media requests and monitor media coverage.
  • Compile media mentions for internal reporting.
  • Draft supporting materials for programme planning and administrative requirements.
  • Support onsite conferences and meetings where applicable.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements
  • HS Diploma
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); OR be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications; proficiency in preparing spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: Six (6) months

Work Modality: remote or in person

Remuneration: The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (full time - 40 hours). Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
