Overview

The intern will support a project focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency systems by conducting background analysis and research. The role aims to assist in project implementation stages including studies, assessments, and research on policies and programs promoting sustainable energy.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in conducting site visits and data collection surveys, including follow-up on phone calls, drafting surveys, desk research, data analysis and database management.
  • Research and identify possible Energy Efficiency Measures and Renewable Energy Measures and conduct market assessments.
  • Assist the project team in monitoring implemented activities and related publications.
  • Support in preparation of energy-related presentations and technical documents.
  • Support in conducting workshops, webinars, trainings related to capacity building and energy stakeholders.
  • Research best practices and identifying opportunities to accelerate energy innovation.
  • Assist in the maintenance and updating of website content and support on social media engagement.
  • Support the project team in developing a detailed design and bidding documents for the proposed energy solutions.
  • Support the team in developing content and communication material such as videos, newsletters, social media, and websites.
  • Support with drafting concise and clear meeting minutes.
Experience Requirements
  • Knowledge in renewable energy & energy efficiency measures desired.
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
  • Experience (> 6 months) in energy is a plus.
  • Proficient in software usage like Autocad, PV Syst, Helioscope, TSOL, Homer, Energy Plus, RETScreen is a plus.
Qualification Requirements
  • Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
  • (a) Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher) in Renewable Energy or related fields;
  • (b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree;
  • (c) Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
  • (d) Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.

Languages Required: Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required
