Overview
The psychiatrist will deliver quality mental-health and psychosocial care, support the prevention and management of psychiatric disorders, and ensure continuity of care within targeted health facilities in Eastern Libya.
Tasks Summary
- Diagnosing and managing common psychiatric disorders, providing therapeutic and pharmacological treatment.
- Early identification of severe mental-health conditions, crisis intervention, and ensuring timely referral to inpatient psychiatric care.
- Coordination with psychologists, community health workers, medical doctors, and referral hospitals.
- Maintaining high standards of patient-centered care, confidentiality, and ethical clinical practice.
- Maintaining accurate patient documentation and ensuring all information is kept confidential and properly updated in program databases.
- Participating in Quality and Performance Improvement activities.
- Providing timely reports and updates to supervisors.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working as a psychiatrist.
- Good understanding of the principles of health care services levels, diagnostic procedures, Libyan health systems, healthcare providers in all sectors, and medical case definitions.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with daily travel to different field sites.
- Capacity and flexibility to work under pressure and difficult conditions.
- Relevant experience working at NGOs with a similar role is an advantage.
Qualification Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery with a valid practice license from the Libyan Ministry of Health.
