Overview

Provides leadership in steering WFP’s treasury management to ensure effective cash flow management for operational requirements, while maintaining security of cash resources, optimizing returns, and minimizing risks.

Tasks Summary
  • Coordinate business processes and systems for treasury activities and transactional services.
  • Identify, build, and maintain strategic partnerships with financial services providers and oversee bank services providers.
  • Formulate, manage, and implement treasury change processes.
  • Oversee foreign exchange management, including identification and analysis of exposures, development of mitigation strategies, and monitoring implementation.
  • Manage WFP’s in-house money market/deposits portfolio.
  • Oversee the investment of WFP funds with external investment managers, including establishing guidelines and risk tolerance parameters.
  • Monitor the performance of external investment managers against benchmarks.
  • Prepare proposals on investment strategy for relevant committees.
  • Ensure continuous delivery of best practice financial controls and insight into WFP performance.
  • Oversee periodic risks and internal control assessments.
  • Ensure follow-up and implementation of audit and compliance recommendations related to treasury processes.
  • Lead, motivate, and coach a team of finance professionals and general service staff.
Experience Requirements

Minimum 11 years of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience in treasury, international cash management, foreign exchange trading, and/or investment management.

Qualification Requirements

Advanced University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Banking or Investment Management, or First University degree in the same subject(s) with two additional years of related work experience. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification or equivalent is highly desirable.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency (level C) in English language.

Languages Preferred: Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working language).

Contract Duration: Fixed-term contract with a probationary period of one year.
