Interpreta Natura ALZIRA, Spain Volunteer opportunity: Building a Sustainable Future
Interpreta Natura invites 12 young Europeans to join a 14-day volunteer camp in the Natural Park of Les Rodanes (Valencia, Spain), staying at the Bassa Barreta municipal hostel. This project focuses on nature conservation and environmental awareness. Volunteers will protect biodiversity by maintaining a local pond and will take a leading role in forest fire prevention, conducting active awareness patrols in the park and educational workshops in local schools. To support a sustainable future, participants will also perform restoration and maintenance tasks at the hostel, such as painting and refurbishing furniture. Community life is a key part of the experience, with daily shared tasks, team-building activities, and cultural exchange in a unique natural setting. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements Volunteers will stay at Bassa Barreta hostel in Les Rodanes Natural Park, sharing 4-bed rooms with lockers, common bathrooms, a kitchen, and a large living room. Interpreta Natura provides meals from Monday to Friday. Travel costs (round trip) will be reimbursed at the end of the project (up to the ESC limit), and pocket money will be given every Friday. Volunteers will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with weekends free to rest or explore the surroundings. A detailed Infopack will be shared at the start of the candidacy. Training during the activity Volunteers will receive on-site training to carry out tasks safely and effectively, including guidance on biodiversity conservation, forest fire prevention, and hostel maintenance (painting and restoration). They will also take part in workshops and group dynamics to strengthen teamwork, cultural exchange, and environmental awareness. Continuous mentoring will be provided by Interpreta Natura staff to support both personal development and learning throughout the project. Participant profile We are looking for motivated young people (18–30 years old) interested in nature, sustainability, and cultural exchange. No previous experience is required, but participants should be open-minded, adaptable, and willing to work both outdoors and in a team. Tasks may involve physical activity such as construction, gardening, or maintenance, so a positive attitude and readiness to learn are essential. Enthusiasm for intercultural dialogue and environmental protection will be highly valued.
