Overview

This internship focuses on statistical analysis related to poverty reduction, inequality, and social protection within the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. The role supports research, reporting, and event organization.

Tasks Summary
  • Undertaking desk research and data processing, including statistical analysis through the use of various statistical and econometric programmes, including R, excel, etc. Topics covered will include poverty reduction, inequality and social protection, with a focus on people invulnerable situations such as persons with disabilities, migrants, youth, older persons and women, as well as research on policies for addressing those issues;
  • Support the development of inputs to reports, summaries, and transcripts;
  • Support in the development of materials and content for social media;
  • Assistance in the organization of workshops, conferences, including the 9th Committee on Social Development, and expert group meetings; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualification Requirements
  • be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 2-6 months

Work Modality: Bangkok and/or Remote

Remuneration: The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
