Overview
The Senior Integration Assistant provides advice to authorities, civil society, and other stakeholders to facilitate the development of policies, strategies, and programs that support refugee integration. The role involves coordinating with various actors to monitor integration activities and address gaps in policy and service provision.
Tasks Summary
- Assist in coordinating with government authorities, NGOs, refugee community groups, local municipalities, volunteer organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to support the development and implementation of strategies, services, and targeted actions that facilitate the integration of refugees.
- Facilitate communication among these actors by providing information and supporting the establishment and enhancement of integration services.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of UNHCR's integration strategy.
- Support the identification of key gaps and issues in integration areas.
- Contribute to the development of services or referral mechanisms to help refugees.
- Support conducting overall context, gap, law and policy framework, and needs analysis.
- Assist in stakeholders’ capacity-building activities.
- Support establishing and operating integration networks.
- Contribute to ensuring a consistent approach in integrating resettled refugees and persons recognized as refugees.
- Follow up on necessary administrative tasks and logistical arrangements.
- Assist in preparing reports on activities and in following up on the legal, social, economic, cultural, and protection aspects of refugee integration.
- Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities impacting objectives.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Experience Requirements
- 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1 year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher.
- Relevant working experience in the establishment of integration and other social services for refugees.
- Experience in refugee integration in the country of assignment or other countries (desirable).
- Institutional relations capacity and expertise as project assistant (asset).
- Previous UNHCR experience (asset).
- Work experience with UNHCR and experience in activities related to refugee integration in Southern Italy (considered assets).
