Overview
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) seeks a Lead (Pb) Management Expert to support lead-related work, including organizing meetings, providing technical assistance, developing knowledge products, establishing collaborations, supporting legislative enactment, piloting enforcement activities, and mobilizing resources.
Tasks Summary
- Develop an annual meeting plan and organize online Advisory Council and coordination meetings.
- Identify priority countries and develop a technical support plan for lead-related work.
- Draft, review, and finalize four knowledge products and develop three newsletters.
- Identify strategic entry points for collaboration with global initiatives.
- Support six countries in enacting lead paint laws.
- Support pilot activities to promote enforcement and compliance in two countries.
- Identify and engage potential donors and partners for lead management initiatives.
Experience Requirements
- At least five years of relevant experience in international chemicals and waste management, including lead management.
- Comprehensive understanding of international and regional regulations related to hazardous substances and lead pollution.
- Proficiency in utilizing advanced analytical tools and data interpretation relevant to lead pollution.
- Work experience in implementing environmental projects involving various partners, clients and stakeholders is desirable.
- Experience of the United Nations system, in particular UNEP, is an asset.
Qualification Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent in a field related to environment/health/natural sciences.
- Two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree.
