Overview

This internship focuses on producing in-depth features and multimedia products in English for the UN newsroom, aiming to promote the United Nations' ideals.

Tasks Summary

• Drafting English feature articles by integrating and translating information from various sources.
• Developing original feature ideas highlighting the positive impact of the United Nations.
• Conducting research and interviews.
• Proofreading features before and after publication.
• Assisting with fact-checking and background research.
• Assisting in the production of visual and audio content.
• Performing other duties as assigned, including outreach.

Experience Requirements

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.

Qualification Requirements

• Enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, English or translation studies (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
• Enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, English or translation studies (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
• Computer-literate in standard word processing and spreadsheets software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel or similar.
• Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in both written and spoken English is essential.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

Contract Duration: min 3 - max 6 months

Work Modality: New York or remote

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
