Overview

Provide high-level analytical, strategic, and policy advisory support to the Chair of the Group of 77 and China on sustainable development dimensions. The role aims to enhance the quality, coherence, and strategic impact of the Group's engagement in key United Nations intergovernmental processes.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide high-level policy analysis and strategic advice on sustainable development issues.
  • Lead the preparation of analytical briefs, synthesis papers, and policy notes.
  • Provide policy advice and substantive inputs for engagement in ECOSOC, HLPF, and the General Assembly.
  • Draft and review background notes, talking points, and analytical inputs.
  • Support policy coherence and consensus-building within the G77 and China.
  • Prepare issue-based analytical summaries, options papers, and comparative analyses.
  • Track substantive outcomes and emerging policy directions.
  • Produce analytical summaries and forward-looking notes.
  • Prepare a final analytical report on G77 sustainable development engagement.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in policy-oriented research, programme management or policy advisory work in sustainable development.
  • At least seven years of experience at the international level.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large intergovernmental processes, including ECOSOC, HLPF or the General Assembly.
  • Proven record of providing substantive leadership in drafting and finalizing global-level policy publications or analytical reports.
Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in sustainable development, economics, public policy, international relations, social sciences or a related field.
  • Alternatively, a first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience in policy-oriented research, programme management or policy advisory work in sustainable development.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken)

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset

Contract Duration: 01/03/26 - 12/02/27
