Overview

Provide high-level analytical, strategic, and policy advisory support to the Chair of the Group of 77 and China on the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide policy analysis and substantive support on sustainable development issues.
  • Contribute to the preparation of analytical briefs, synthesis papers, and policy notes.
  • Provide substantive inputs and policy support for the Group’s engagement in the Economic and Social Council, the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, and the General Assembly.
  • Support efforts to ensure policy coherence across various tracks.
  • Support the Chair in promoting policy coherence and consensus within the G77 and China.
  • Monitor substantive outcomes, negotiated language, and emerging policy directions.
  • Prepare concise analytical summaries and forward-looking notes.
  • Contribute to the preparation of a final analytical report.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in policy-oriented research, programme management, or policy advisory work in sustainable development, at least five years of which should be at the international level.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large intergovernmental processes, including ECOSOC, HLPF, or the General Assembly.
  • Proven experience in drafting and contributing to global-level policy publications or analytical reports, including supporting their finalization.
Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in sustainable development, economics, public policy, international relations, social sciences, or a related field.
  • A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience in the field of policy-oriented research, programme management, or policy advisory work in sustainable development can be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Languages Required: Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken)

Languages Preferred: knowledge of another UN official language is an asset

Contract Duration: 01/03/26 - 12/02/27
