Overview

Support UN-Habitat's Regional Office for Africa (ROAF) in implementing its activities in the West Africa region, focusing on urban development and human settlements.

Tasks Summary
  • Familiarize with UN-Habitat’s mandate and tools.
  • Support in GIS mapping and spatial analysis.
  • Support in developing concept notes and project documents for resource mobilization.
  • Support Country offices in West Africa in monitoring and reporting.
  • Contribute to the communication and visibility of UN-Habitat’s activities.
  • Perform other tasks including note taking, drafting minutes, providing translations, preparing presentations, and attending meetings.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Knowledge in the thematic of urban development is required.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in oral and written English and French is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: In-person

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
