Overview

The intern will provide support in research, analysis, and drafting of substantive materials related to traditional knowledge for the Convention on Biological Diversity.

Tasks Summary
  • Conduct science-based research, writing and analysis to develop substantive materials and support work related to traditional knowledge.
  • Support the drafting of materials for the Nature and Culture Summit and activities related to traditional knowledge.
  • Support the organization of regional workshops and informal consultations.
  • Provide assistance in the implementation of projects and activities related to the Programme of Work on Article 8(j) and other provisions.
  • Support the organization, logistic and coordination of meetings, including online meetings/webinars.
  • Identify opportunities for synergies with other relevant international and regional frameworks and mechanisms.
Experience Requirements

Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor 's level or equivalent)
  • Have graduated with a university degree.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in oral and written English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of French and Spanish is desirable.

Contract Duration: Six (6) months

Work Modality: Montreal

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
