Security Management and Business Continuity Adviser

Overview

The Security Management and Business Continuity Adviser is responsible for the review, development, and implementation of policies, guidelines, and SOPs to ensure an effective framework of security management and business continuity at UNIDO.

Tasks Summary

• Review/develop policies, guidelines and SOPs related to security management.
• Review/develop and implement security protocols and procedures for UNIDO’s field offices.
• Act as the primary point of contact for UNIDO Senior Managers in HQ and across UNIDO’s network of Field offices, to provide expert security and safety advice and guidance.
• Perform security risk assessments.
• Support responses to critical security incidents and emergencies.
• Coordinate dissemination of security information.
• Serve as a UNIDO representative on security management groups/task forces and the UN Inter Agency Security Management Network.
• Maintain continuing lines of communication with relevant security focal points and representatives of other UN agencies and other partners.
• Serve as an advocate for security management.
• Provide expert advice on the procurement of equipment for security and business continuity.
• Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of UNIDO Business Continuity Management (BCM) policies and operational plans.
• Oversee the availability of emergency communications systems and ensure appropriate security equipment is available and fit for purpose.
• Assess needs and provide recommendations on business continuity applications.
• Implement organizational plans and ensure all required personnel are trained.
• Act as UNIDO’s focal point for business continuity management and the UN Organizational Resilience Management System.

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible working experience in security management and business continuity in a UN or comparable international organization is required.
• Demonstrated experience at the professional level in the UN Security Management System or a comparable system is required.
• Demonstrated experience in Business Continuity and Organizational Resilience is required.
• Demonstrated experience in producing Standard Operational Procedures/Security Risk Assessments/Security Plans in accordance with UNSMS methodology is required.

Qualification Requirements

• Advanced university level degree (master’s or equivalent) in security, security management, management, business management/administration, programme management, or a field of direct relevance to the position, is required.
• UNSMS Security Professional Certification (SCP) is required.
• Certification in Business Continuity is desirable.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

Languages Preferred: Fluency in or working knowledge of other official language(s) of the United Nations, is desirable.
