Economic Affairs Intern

Overview

The intern will support the production of the UN's flagship publication World Economic Situation and Prospects (WESP) by providing quantitative and qualitative research inputs on macroeconomic topics and policy issues.

Tasks Summary

• Provide quantitative and qualitative research inputs on macroeconomic topics and policy issues.
• Support production of the UN’s flagship publication World Economic Situation and Prospects (WESP).
• Provide substantive support and logistic assistance to policy seminars or expert group meetings as part of the preparations for WESP2027.

Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements

• Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
• Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
• Be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
• Have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
• Have working knowledge of statistical/econometric software such as Stata, EViews or R.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 4 months initially

Work Modality: remote and part-time (30 hours)

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
