Overview

The internship is located in the Investment Policy Research Section of the Division on Investment and Enterprise, United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The main responsibility of the intern will be to make a contribution to the research work of the Section, focusing on policies affecting foreign direct investment.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in conduct thematic literature reviews and desk research on investment policies and sustainable development.
  • Assist in collecting, organize and analyze qualitative and quantitative data on policy measures related to FDI and their impact, including through desk research and surveys.
  • Assist in preparing inputs, including tables and charts, for publications prepared by the Section
  • Support the integration of research outputs into policy dialogue, outreach, and dissemination activities.
  • Assisting in the preparation, coordination, and organization of meetings, partnerships, and international events, including support to the World Investment Forum.
  • Liaising, as appropriate, with internal and external stakeholders in the context of research, partnerships, and event-related activities.
  • Perform other duties as required
Experience Requirements

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.

Qualification Requirements
  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Studies in areas such as economics, international economics, development, public policy or international relations is required.
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme within 12 months of the application date.
  • Should be computer literate in standard software applications.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency spoken and written in English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: remote, or/and hybrid

Remuneration: The internship is UNPAID. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
