Communication Intern

Overview

This internship focuses on communications and advocacy within the UN Resident Coordinator Office in Angola, supporting joint planning and the delivery of results aligned with the Government of Angola's development agenda.

Tasks Summary

• Research topics and issues, and produce draft documents on these
• Monitor media and prepare draft versions of media clippings or media monitoring reports
• Support in the management and monitoring of social media
• Provide clerical support, e.g. management of lists or databases
• Assist drafting of speeches and talking points
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements

• Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
• Preferred studies: Applicants must have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme or higher in Communications, Journalism, marketing or related field and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
• - Demonstrate sound writing skills, with the ability to draft clear, well‑structured and concise communication materials
• - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to provide continuous and accurate data input, is required
• - Familiarity with graphic design tools and other communications tools is required

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English and Portuguese is required for this internship.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another UN language would be desirable.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
