Overview

The Media and Communications Officer will provide coordination and technical support for the development and implementation of public information, communications, and awareness-raising activities for IOM Thailand Country Office.

Tasks Summary
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a public information strategy.
  • Coordinate communications-related projects and activities.
  • Engage with and respond to media requests.
  • Produce, collect and disseminate public information material.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a digital engagement strategy.
  • Contribute to liaison with partners, including inter-agency communications working groups.
  • Monitor local and international media.
  • Support drafting of statements, key messages, and talking points.
  • Check for inclusion of appropriate gender awareness in communications.
  • Undertake duty travel as needed.
Experience Requirements
  • Master’s degree with two years of relevant professional experience; or University degree with four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in communication campaigns, digital content creation, including photography, videography, graphic design and editing.
  • Experience in building public information capacities of staff and external stakeholders.
  • Experience liaising with government, civil society and media partners.
  • Work experience in the Region is an advantage.
Qualification Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Development Studies, International Affairs or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or
  • University degree in the above fields.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in English is required (oral and written).

Languages Preferred: • Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) and/or Thai language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: Up to 9 months
