Overview
The role involves contributing to the analysis of renewable energy policies, markets, and technologies, including monitoring policy development, gathering data, and collaborating with experts. The Analyst will support the production of reports and provide policy advice.
Tasks Summary
- Analysing market and policy developments in renewable energy sectors and modelling medium-term market forecasts.
- Monitoring renewable energy technology developments, including investment costs, applications, and performance data.
- Developing analytical and forecasting methodology and messaging for renewable energy technologies.
- Analysing deployment and cost implications of renewable energy policies.
- Contributing to the production, strategic communications, and marketing of the “Renewable Energy Market Report” and other publications.
- Contributing to the Division’s work on policy advice in emerging markets and developing economies.
- Supporting broader Division and Agency activities through analytical, written, and verbal contributions.
- Collaborating with other divisions, governments, international organisations, industry, and stakeholders.
- Participating in preparations for meetings and events.
- Promoting the Agency’s work externally through workshops, presentations, and meetings.
- Deriving knowledge from IEA Technology Collaboration Programmes.
- Supporting the work of the IEA Renewable Energy Working Party (REWP).
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of four to six years’ experience in the field of renewable energy markets, policies and technologies.
- Thorough understanding of wholesale and retail electricity markets and wider energy markets.
- Good appreciation of technical, economic, and policy issues influencing renewable energy deployment.
- Specific experience in wind and solar power would be an advantage.
- Good understanding of renewable energy financing mechanisms and investment environment.
- Experience in the finance industry would be an advantage.
- Experience in writing reports on complex, renewable energy-related subjects for a policy-maker audience.
- Experience in managing and analysing large datasets of energy statistics.
- Ability to develop and maintain forecasting models based on these datasets.
- Experience in the development of quantitative metrics to assess policy and regulatory frameworks.
Qualification Requirements
An advanced university degree in engineering, physical sciences, statistics, international relations, economics/econometrics, or other relevant disciplines.
