Radio Operator

Overview

The Radio Operator will monitor and record movements of Humanitarian Mine Action teams via radio, phone, or other means, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and maintaining communication logs.

Tasks Summary

• Monitor and record all movements of Humanitarian Mine Action Senior Management, NTS/EORE teams and EOD MTT teams via radio, phone, or other means.
• Communicate with nominated Points of Contact within the teams or individuals.
• Maintain written records of communications.
• Monitor staff in the field and maintain up-to-date information on all staff whereabouts during work hours.
• Inform Operations Manager and/or technical Field manager/s immediately about any incidents affecting the safety of field staff or DRC operation.
• Generate and file daily communications logs.
• Maintain any equipment in your position including mobile phone, satellite phone, or radio.
• Be available to work flexible working hours on occasion to facilitate operational needs.
• Maintain and ensure the HMA Communication tree is activated and all staff are compliant.
• Contribute to the safety of all staff members.
• Support HMA management and support staff with during communication traffic down times in coordination with and approval from the Operations Manager.
• Any other reasonable task as requested by HDP Managers in coordination with the HMA OM.

Experience Requirements

• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Knowledge of Communications equipment, including, radios, satellite phones, computer skills.

Qualification Requirements

• High School diploma under Syrian Education System or equivalent.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office.

Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing of English language. • Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in Arabic language.
