Overview

The role will lead the food security, nutrition and market monitoring and analysis system in the Country Office and contribute to the Vulnerability Analysis Mapping (VAM) evidence base. It will also strengthen the capacities of national and local stakeholders to prepare for and respond to food insecurity and emergencies.

Tasks Summary
  • Contribute to the development of VAM projects and activities, plans and processes.
  • Support the development of systems and tools for the monitoring and assessment of food assistance needs.
  • Support the development of food security and vulnerability analysis and the preparation of timely reports.
  • Provide assistance on the coordination of data gathering and monitoring systems.
  • Liaise with implementing partners to monitor ongoing projects.
  • Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government.
  • Lead both geographical and household-level targeting activities.
  • Provide support to relevant partners focusing on food security and nutrition issues.
  • Guide and supervise more junior staff.
  • Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required.
  • Work together with partners to integrate multi-hazard early warning systems, climate analysis into vulnerability analysis and mapping.
  • Provide technical advice and support to government, WFP and cooperating partner staff.
  • Support the government to develop nationally-owned food security monitoring systems.
  • Carry out other tasks as required.
Experience Requirements
  • At least 3 years of relevant post-graduate (Master) professional work experience in food security, analysis or relevant international development/humanitarian work.
  • More years of relevant post-graduate professional work experience is desirable.
  • Has led and/or managed evidence generation, monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Experience in managing diverse teams of technical staff.
  • Has deepened technical knowledge through exposure to technical teams.
  • Has taken leadership of implementing programmes.
  • Has provided input into policy discussions and decisions.
Qualification Requirements

Advanced University (Master) degree in (Agro) Economics, Food Security/Agriculture, Statistics, Data Science, Public Health/Nutrition, Geography or other related field, or First University (Bachelor) degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali Languages is required.

Languages Preferred:

Contract Duration: 12 months (Renewable)
