Overview

This role is responsible for cooperation and liaison between INTERPOL and the AU regarding crime matters affecting Africa, including terrorism, maritime security, and environmental crime. The incumbent will also manage information on regional law enforcement efforts and seek AU support for cooperation initiatives.

Tasks Summary
  • Promote development of projects and programmes to improve tactical capability of African Member States to combat international crime.
  • Ensure compliance with human rights in project development and implementation.
  • Represent INTERPOL at external meetings/conferences organized by or connected to the AU.
  • Prepare and host meetings, including drafting agendas, circular letters, and invitations.
  • Arrange meeting facilities and anticipate potential problems.
  • Draft final reports of meetings/conferences and written mission reports.
  • Write summaries related to INTERPOL-AU cooperation areas.
  • Present INTERPOL's mission in relevant AU agencies and other meetings.
  • Receive visitors to discuss INTERPOL-AU cooperation.
  • Ensure INTERPOL's inclusion in key conferences and meetings related to security and law enforcement organized by the AU and other regional organizations.
  • Follow up on AU meetings and reports to communicate relevant information to INTERPOL.
  • Analyze pertinent information and disseminate as appropriate.
  • Identify areas of common interest between INTERPOL and the AU and initiate joint programmes and projects.
  • Carry out studies and prepare summary reports.
  • Carry out other duties as directed by the hierarchy.
Experience Requirements
  • At least 3 years' experience in law enforcement.
  • 10 years' experience required if the incumbent does not have the minimum level of education.
  • Experience in international police cooperation.
  • Experience working in an international environment would be highly desirable.
Qualification Requirements
  • Three-to-four years' university degree or other specialized higher education establishment (preferably in Law, Public Policy or Police Management).
  • Suitable legal/Law Enforcement Training.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English and French is required

Languages Preferred: Fluency or proficiency in at least one other official working language of the Organization would be an additional asset

Contract Duration: 36.00 months
