Overview

The United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) seeks a Public Information Intern to support diverse communications initiatives promoting UNDSS activities and security work. The role aims to bring the Department's work to life through compelling content creation and digital presence management.

Tasks Summary
  • Create compelling content across platforms - written, visual, audio and video - that brings the Department's work to life;
  • Design and produce communications products using Adobe Suite, Microsoft 365 and AI tools (i.e Synthesia), from concept to finished product;
  • Keep the Department's digital presence sharp: updating websites, platforms and channels with timely and accurate content;
  • Support knowledge management by organising and maintaining communications assets and documentation;
  • Contribute to the planning and coordination of events, meetings and campaigns;
  • Fulfill other duties as required.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualification Requirements
  • be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
  • have graduated with a university degree (as defined above).
Other Details

Languages Required: fluency in English (both oral and written) is required

Languages Preferred: any fluency in any other language is desirable

Contract Duration: Six months.

Work Modality: in person and full-time (35 hours or more). The internship can be adapted to accommodate hybrid arrangements, on an exceptional basis.

Remuneration: The internship is UNPAID. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
