Overview

The Senior Investment Officer, Financial Sponsor Debt Business will lead the origination, structuring, and execution of infrastructure private credit and other debt co-investment transactions with financial sponsors across AIIB Members. The role requires strong expertise in sponsor-backed financing, credit risk assessment, and deal structuring to support AIIB’s mandate on sustainable infrastructure and capital mobilization.

Tasks Summary
  • Originate, structure, and execute financial sponsor-backed green and sustainable infrastructure debt transactions, including private credit and co-lending opportunities.
  • Lead detailed financial modelling, credit analysis, and risk–return assessment, and prepare internal credit papers and investment memoranda for approval.
  • Conduct due diligence across commercial, financial, legal, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), and technical workstreams in coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
  • Negotiate term sheets, financing agreements, intercreditor arrangements, and other key transaction documents with sponsors, lenders, and counterparties.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and compliance, including covenant tracking and risk rating updates.
  • Support the development and execution of co-investment strategies alongside approved GPs, with potential exposure to equity co-investments where relevant.
Experience Requirements

Minimum 10 years of relevant debt-financing experience in infrastructure finance (e.g., project or corporate or acquisition finance) or sponsor-backed investments in infrastructure obtained at private equity funds, Sovereign Wealth Funds(SWFs), multilateral development banks, development finance institutions, or commercial banks. Hands-on transaction execution experience is a must. Broad sector experience aligned with AIIB’s priority areas, including energy (renewables, grids, storage), transport and logistics, digital infrastructure, water and wastewater, and other climate-aligned infrastructure. Familiarity with blended finance structures and private capital mobilization, including co-lending and co-investment alongside financial sponsors. Proven track record of executing transactions across emerging markets, particularly in Asia, Middle East and North Africa, and/or Latin America.

Qualification Requirements

Advanced degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related discipline. CFA or equivalent professional certification preferred.

Languages Required: Excellent written and oral English language skills.

Languages Preferred: Language proficiency in French, Spanish, or Mandarin would be a plus.
