Intern - Policy and Planning

Overview

This internship position is in UNEP’s Climate Change Division, Mitigation Branch, Policy and Planning Unit. The role supports the implementation of the NDC Act & Invest Project and other activities of the Policy and Planning Unit.

Tasks Summary

• Support the implementation of the NDC Act & Invest Project, including research on climate finance, policy alignment, and private sector engagement.
• Provide inputs to briefing materials, reports, and documentation.
• Contribute to the development of a communications strategy.
• Perform other duties as required, such as contributing to background papers, technical briefs, and knowledge products.
• Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
• Participate in organization-wide climate change events and report back.

Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements

• Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
• OR be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
• Be computer literate in standard software applications.

Other Details

Languages Required:

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of one of the following UN language is an advantage: Chinese, French, Spanish.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality:

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
