Overview

The Emergency Manager advances UNICEF’s Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus approach, ensuring emergency preparedness and response are systematically linked to longer term development and peacebuilding objectives. The role facilitates joint risk analyses, multi-sectoral planning, and capacity building for local systems.


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinates planning, implementation, and reporting on all programmes, including humanitarian and development.
  • Oversees the USA OCHA grant.
  • Supports emergency coordination, emergency response, emergency preparedness, nexus programming, monitoring and reporting.
Required Experience
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience at national and international levels in programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration is required.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
Qualifications

Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in social sciences, public administration, international law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration, or related disciplines is required. A Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in a relevant area combined with 2 additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree (internal staff only).

Fluency in English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is desirable. Working knowledge of Portuguese will be a very strong asset.
