Overview
This opportunity is to develop a list of qualified candidates for a roster of experts in Noncommunicable Diseases, Violence and Injuries, Rehabilitation and Disability. The experts will provide technical assistance to strengthen prevention and management of these conditions within health systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance for the integration of NCD management across various levels of the health system.
- Design and implement NCD surveillance systems to monitor disease burden, risk factors, and intervention impact.
- Analyze complex NCD datasets to produce insights for national and regional strategies.
- Support the design, development, and implementation of digital health solutions for NCD management.
- Guide national NCD surveillance strategies and ensure alignment with international guidelines.
- Develop and implement national strategies for the prevention and management of hearing impairments.
- Support the development of eye health programs, focusing on preventing and treating conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
- Promote the integration of oral health into primary care and public health initiatives.
- Develop strategies to address NCD risk factors, such as tobacco use, unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, and harmful alcohol use.
- Support countries to develop and implement national policies, legislation, strategies, plans, programmes and initiatives to prevent violence against children and girls; prevent drowning and traffic injuries and deaths.
- Support countries to strengthen their capacity to deliver inclusive health and rehabilitation services for all the population.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the area of expertise applied for.
- This could include NCD management, integrated service delivery, specific NCD fields (e.g., cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, violence and injuries), data management, quantitative analysis, and data visualization.
Qualifications
- Essential: A degree in medicine with a specialization in one of the NCD areas, or a degree in public health or health-related fields.
- For roles related to data science, a university degree in statistics, data science, health informatics, or other related fields is required.
- Desirable: An advanced university degree (Master's level or above) in medicine, public health, or any specialized field related to NCDs, such as Integrated NCD Management/Service Delivery, Epidemiology, NCD Surveillance, Cardiovascular diseases, Diabetes, Chronic Respiratory Diseases, Cancers (e.g., breast, cervical, childhood, prostate, liver), Sickle Cell Disease and Genetic Disorders, Ear and Hearing Care, Eye Health, Oral Health, Violence and Injuries, Rehabilitation and Disability.
