Overview
The Health, Safety, Social and Environmental Senior Analyst - Analysis and Reporting will ensure the highest standards of health, safety, social responsibility, and environmental protection are integrated into an agricultural revitalization project. The role is crucial for managing HSSE aspects effectively and contributing to the well-being of workers and project sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze project activities and synthesize HSSE requirements to develop and implement a comprehensive HSSE management system.
- Assess the soundness and validity of HSSE plans and procedures developed by contractors and project teams.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor compliance with HSSE requirements.
- Analyze incident reports and propose corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare detailed reports, analyses, and presentations on HSSE performance.
- Apply conceptual models and policy frameworks to assess social and environmental impacts.
- Analyze stakeholder concerns and synthesize mitigation measures.
- Adapt community engagement strategies.
- Contribute substantive comments and modifications to social and environmental impact assessments.
- Persuade or influence colleagues and contractors on the importance of social safeguards and community engagement.
- Receive, acknowledge, and log grievances and complaints.
- Analyze training needs and synthesize training programs to enhance HSSE awareness.
- Develop and deliver HSSE training sessions.
- Judge the effectiveness of training programs and propose improvements.
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance on HSSE matters.
- Analyze potential emergency scenarios and synthesize emergency response plans.
- Develop and implement emergency drills and exercises.
- Adapt emergency response procedures based on lessons learned.
- Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in HSSE management, preferably in construction, agriculture, or infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing HSSE measures, conducting risk assessments, and developing HSSE plans and procedures.
- Experience working in Iraq or other conflict-affected environments is desired.
- Experience with international HSSE standards and best practices is desired.
- In-depth understanding of international environmental and social standards (e.g., UNOPS, IFAD, Adaptation Fund etc.) is desired.
- Experience in providing technical assistance and guidance on HSSE issues to project teams and stakeholders is an asset.
- Familiarity with environmental management systems and sustainable practices is preferred.
- Experience in monitoring and reporting on HSSE performance and incidents is an asset.
- Proven ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at various levels is desired.
- Experience in personnel management, including training and capacity building initiatives, is desirable.
- Proficiency in computers and Google Office Suite and other relevant software tools is desirable.
- PRINCE2® Foundation is an asset.
- PMP Certification is an asset.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field with additional 2 years of experience.
- Additional certifications or specialized training in HSSE management, risk assessment, incident investigation, or related areas are desirable.
