Overview
The Health Officer will provide technical and operational support for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of maternal, neonatal, and child health activities, ensuring inclusion, quality, and alignment with the Ministry of Health's strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, development, and implementation of maternal, neonatal, and child health interventions.
- Collaborate with colleagues and partners to collect, analyze, and share information, and propose solutions.
- Support partners in adopting inclusive and community participation approaches.
- Assist in preparing documents and reports for planning and monitoring health initiatives.
- Conduct field visits to assess progress and provide technical support.
- Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts and partner NGOs on UNICEF health policies and best practices.
- Contribute to mapping community initiatives to identify collaboration opportunities.
- Encourage synergies between existing partners to intensify nutritional interventions and strengthen population resilience.
- Support capacity building of government partners and local actors.
- Participate in documenting good practices and innovations in maternal and neonatal health interventions.
- Collect, analyze, and share information related to implementation to achieve programmatic objectives.
- Maintain a centralized database of reports, evaluations, and relevant information.
- Participate in reviews, evaluations, and monitoring-evaluation exercises.
- Strengthen knowledge and understanding of volunteerism.
- Familiarize with and develop traditional and/or local volunteering in the host country.
- Reflect on the type and nature of volunteer actions undertaken.
- Contribute to writing articles on field experiences.
- Contribute to the onboarding program for newly arrived UN Volunteers.
- Promote or advise local groups on using online volunteers.
- Participate in any other tasks requested by the Section Chief and Health Manager.
- Collect and analyze maternal, neonatal, and child health performance indicator data.
Required Experience
- A minimum of one year of professional experience in public health/nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal healthcare, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness.
- Relevant experience within a United Nations agency or organization is an asset.
- Field experience in engaging national partners for evidence generation and/or lessons learned is an asset.
Qualifications
• A university degree at the Bachelor's level in public health/nutrition, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policies and/or management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, epidemiology, or any other relevant technical field.
