Overview
The intern will assist the UNEP/GEF Biodiversity-Land degradation Unit in developing artificial intelligence based project and portfolio's monitoring tools and products to assist results oriented project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting research on emerging AI trends, tools, and best practices relevant to UNEP’s Project cycle management work.
- Support in preparation of internal papers, reports and/or presentations on these topics.
- Explore and test emerging AI tools and approaches through quick, low-effort prototypes specifically contribute to the development and deployment of Microsoft Copilot Studio agents and related automation tools.
- Support in contribution of the development and refinement of a Prompt Catalogue to support effective use of generative AI.
- Assist in collaboration with other UNEP internal teams to identify practical use cases for AI tools and assess their feasibility through rapid testing.
- Support the organization and coordination of regular meetings, workshops, and webinars in designing the Unit’s AI based project monitoring systems.
- Assist by using AI produce short summaries / videos of how AI based monitoring tools can be used to aid unit staff in their work.
- Attend the meetings, trainings and conferences of relevance to UNEP in Geneva.
- Performing other relevant duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Any relevant academic and/or practical experience with data compilation, data analysis, data dissemination and visualization and/or mapping of numeric analysis is desirable.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) preferably in the area of a relevant domain and experience with AI tools or technologies is required.
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
- Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected.
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
