Overview

This internship supports UNEP FI's climate and regional teams in scaling up and developing climate mitigation initiatives for financial institutions across various regions. The role aims to promote the integration of climate considerations into the banking sector and foster private sector investment towards a low-carbon economy.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support in the organization, planning, and delivery of engagements with financial institutions.
  • Conduct regional/country analysis of climate transition capabilities.
  • Scope and prioritize climate transition capacity-building needs.
  • Support the delivery of regional climate plans.
  • Assist in the design and preparation of training materials.
  • Support the design and delivery of capacity-building work.
  • Support in the organization and delivery of events for financial sector decarbonization.
  • Support maturity analysis of emissions data capabilities.
  • Identify potential partners for data gathering.
  • Prepare reporting materials and administrative tasks.
  • Support with the translation of global UNEP FI materials.
Required Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.

Qualifications
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate school programme, the final academic year of a first university degree program, or have graduated within one year of application.
  • Academic background in finance, environmental science, business administration, international relations, financial services or environmental affairs.
  • Industry certifications from accredited financial services and risk management institutes are highly valued.

Fluency in oral and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another UN Language is desirable.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
