Overview
The Programme Analyst, Peacebuilding and Governance is responsible for managing UNDP programmes within the thematic areas of governance and peacebuilding. This role involves analyzing political, social, and conflict trends, leading the formulation, management, and evaluation of programme activities, and providing policy advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the analysis of political, social, and conflict situations.
- Oversee programme implementation with implementing partners.
- Ensure effective application of results-based management tools.
- Prepare and aggregate reports on activities, outputs, and outcomes.
- Develop partnerships with UN Agencies, international financial institutions, government institutions, donors, and civil society.
- Provide substantive support in the development of policies and institutions.
- Organize training for operations/projects staff on programme-related matters.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years (with master’s degree) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience at the national and/or international level in providing program management advisory services.
- Hands-on experience in designing and implementing governance and peacebuilding portfolios and projects is desired.
- Experience working with UN Agencies or relevant international NGOs, with a focus on mediation, conflict transformation, good governance, or related thematic areas is desired.
- Experience in innovative, evidence-based evaluation of the impact of peacebuilding and governance programming is desired.
- Experience in forging strong partnerships with project counterparts, including government and civil society stakeholders, is desired.
- Experience in donor partner engagement and resource mobilization is desired.
- Experience in the use of computers, office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.), database packages, and web-based management systems such as ERP is required.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Peace and Conflict Studies Law, Public Administration, Anthropology, Political Sciences, Social Sciences, or related field is required or
- A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas stated above in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
