Overview

This internship focuses on economic affairs, involving research support, project implementation assistance, and digital content development within the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to developing and testing GeoAI for capacity building
  • Assist in the research of Geo AI applications and innovation in countries in Asia and the Pacific
  • Provide support in the implementation of capacity development projects with cooperation partners
  • Provide support in the development of needs assessment surveys, user feedback on geospatial tools, and training content on fundamental and advanced topics on state-of-the-art geospatial tools
  • Support the team in their day-to-day activities and tasks
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications
  • be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
  • be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent)
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
  • Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Office 365, Google Earth Engine, image processing and presentation software.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
