Overview

The Programme Support Officer will provide environment and sustainability focused support, with complimentary contributions across related thematic areas, and with a strong focus on data collection, analysis, research, and programme coordination.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the rapid assessment and analysis of environmental risks and impacts associated with the current regional crisis.
  • Support analysis of environmental trends and risks to inform national preparedness and response planning.
  • Support the collection, consolidation, and validation of quantitative and qualitative data across thematic areas, with a primary focus on environmental data.
  • Contribute to data cleaning, structuring, and basic statistical analysis.
  • Support the development of dashboards, data summaries, and visualizations.
  • Assist in integrating data from multiple sources into coherent analytical frameworks.
  • Support the development of analytical inputs and knowledge products related to the environmental dimensions of the current regional crisis.
  • Support the preparation of analytical briefs, background notes, concept notes, and technical reports.
  • Contribute to the development of environmental and sustainability focused concept notes and technical proposals.
  • Contribute to benchmarking exercises and identification of international best practices.
  • Conduct desk research and literature reviews on relevant and connected topics.
  • Assist in documenting lessons learned and knowledge products.
  • Support the coordination of activities across multiple workstreams, with a particular focus on environment and sustainability related initiatives.
  • Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, consultations, and training sessions.
  • Support stakeholder mapping and engagement with government entities, research institutions, and partners.
  • Contribute to progress tracking, reporting, and documentation of programme outputs.
  • Support coordination with national counterparts on environmental preparedness and monitoring initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of a pipeline of environment and preparedness and monitoring initiatives.
  • Support coordination and follow-up on initiatives linked to the government’s response to the current regional crisis.
  • Provide support in logistical coordination of missions, events, and project activities.
  • Assist in maintaining organized project documentation and filing systems.
  • Support basic financial tracking and administrative processes related to project implementation.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on action points and coordination with internal teams.
  • Support the preparation of internal and external communication materials.
  • Contribute to reporting on programme progress, outputs, and results.
  • Assist in ensuring consistency and quality of documentation across workstreams.
  • Support the preparation of briefing notes and talking points on environment and sustainability topics.
Required Experience
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably with exposure to environmental sustainability, environmental monitoring, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection, analysis, and research.
  • Experience supporting programme or project implementation in development or public sector contexts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience in drafting reports, briefs, and technical documents.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with data analysis tools is an asset.
  • Experience working with government institutions or international organizations is desirable.
  • Demonstrated exposure to environmental sustainability, environmental risk assessment, or climate related work is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with environmental data, indicators, or monitoring systems is an asset.
  • Understanding of the environmental implications of crisis, conflicts, or regional shocks is an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to evolving priorities in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Economics or development studies; Public policy or public administration; Data analysis or statistics; Environmental or sustainability studies.
