Overview
The Environment and Climate Change Specialist will support the implementation of environment and climate-related initiatives, contributing to environmental assessments, resilience planning, and sustainable recovery efforts in alignment with national priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of environment and climate-related initiatives.
- Assist in the design and implementation of environmental assessments, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Support preparation of technical inputs, background papers, and policy briefs.
- Contribute to environmental analysis and evidence generation to inform programme design.
- Support coordination with national counterparts including SCE and other stakeholders.
- Assist in organizing consultations, workshops, and technical meetings related to environmental priorities.
- Facilitate communication between UNDP, partners, and consultants.
- Support follow-up on implementation and agreed actions.
- Support preparation and tracking of Annual Work Plans (AWPs).
- Assist in coordination of consultants and technical inputs, particularly for environmental assessment work.
- Support documentation for internal UNDP processes (e.g. Project Boards, reporting).
- Support preparation of briefs, presentations, and communication materials.
- Document lessons learned and good practices.
- Support dissemination of findings from environmental assessments.
- Support tracking of progress, indicators, and risks.
- Assist in preparation of reports.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing systems.
Required Experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience in environment, climate change, sustainability, or related fields.
- Experience supporting environmental assessments, research, or policy analysis is an asset.
- Familiarity with SDGs and environmental/climate frameworks.
- Experience working with international organizations, government entities, or research institutions is an advantage.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, climate change, sustainability, natural resources management, or a related field (Master's degree is an asset).
