Overview
The Immunization Officer role focuses on ensuring accurate program information for effective design, implementation, management, monitoring, and evaluation of immunization programs. It aims to enhance project efficiency, effectiveness, and vaccination coverage through implementation follow-on and technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures availability of accurate program information for immunization program design, implementation, management, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Drafts immunization program budgets and project status reports.
- Assembles and provides updated data on national immunization programs and financial/administrative status.
- Analyzes program status and recommends adjustments.
- Monitors UNICEF inputs, local conditions, resources, and supply flow.
- Undertakes field visits for monitoring and supervision of project activities and to improve immunization coverage.
- Supervises routine EPI activities and Big catch up activities.
- Prepares reports on field visit results and vaccination coverage progress.
- Prepares progress reports and drafts changes in project work plans and supply identification.
- Drafts sections of donor, annual, and other project documentation related to EPI.
- Monitors supply and non-supply assistance flow to local authorities.
- Records supply and non-supply inventory and updates on cold chain equipment, distribution, and utilization.
- Ensures appropriateness of financial, administrative, and supply documentation and adherence to allotments.
- Supports staff training/development programs for the Immunization Programme.
- Conducts orientation, workshops, and staff learning/development activities.
- Compiles immunization project implementation training and orientation materials for knowledge sharing.
- Ensures effective communication, networking, and working relationships with internal and external partners.
- Collaborates with Operations staff on internal controls and resolves discrepancies.
- Teams with local government counterparts on immunization project implementation and supply movement.
- Provides technical support in planning district EPI micro-plans.
- Arranges field visits for government and partners and provides briefing information.
- Collaborates with development community members for information exchange.
Required Experience
- 2 years of relevant work experience in planning, programming, implementation monitoring, and evaluation of health/Immunization program/project activities is required.
- Experience with preparing progress reports and with EPI.
Qualifications
• Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Social Sciences, Medicine, Health, Public Health, Family Health, Child Development, Nursing, or a field relevant to international development assistance in Immunization and Child Survival & Health Care.
