Overview

To lead and direct country support, capacity strengthening, and normative contributions in health governance, leadership, financing, financial protection, and economics principles for national and sub-national health policies, strategies, and plans.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership in establishing evidence-based policies and strategies, and capacity building initiatives in health financing, financial protection, and health systems governance.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen health financing systems, financial protection policies, health economics and prioritization, and health systems governance.
  • Guide the Unit's work to operationalize WHO's normative guidance on health financing, health economics, and governance at country level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Submit an end of assignment report.
Required Experience
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the management of work in health financing and governance.
  • Experience providing senior level advice and guidance to Senior Management/Decision makers at national and international levels.
  • Experience managing human and financial resources.
  • Experience in developing and establishing policies and strategies for health financing and governance.
  • Demonstrated experience at the international level.
Qualifications
  • Essential: Post-graduate degree (Master's or equivalent) in health financing, health economics, health systems, health policy, health planning, economics, or public policy.
  • Desirable: PhD in one of the above-mentioned fields.

Remuneration
• Annual base salary starting at USD 103,165 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable). • A variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 2622 per month for the duty station indicated above. • Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
