Overview

The Research Intern will assist in the implementation of activities for UNICRI’s Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, contributing to projects focused on understanding the role of AI in the criminal justice system.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and provide analytical support on topics related to artificial intelligence, criminal justice, and the Centre’s work.
  • Monitor local, regional, and international news and policy developments relevant to the Centre’s activities.
  • Identify, map, and maintain databases of key stakeholders and relevant professional communities.
  • Assist in drafting, preparing and reviewing project documentation, concept notes, briefing materials, reports, talking points, presentations etc.
  • Support the organization of meetings, workshops, training and other events, including agenda preparation, note-taking, and drafting follow-up reports.
  • Attend meetings with partners and stakeholders and prepare action points and summaries.
  • Assist in communications and visibility related to the Centre’s activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Other Details
Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
Contract Duration
2-6 months
Work Modality
Interns work from the premises in The Hague, The Netherlands. UNICRI personnel are allowed, upon approval by the supervisor, to request up to three days of telecommuting from the Duty Station per week.
Remuneration
The Internship is UNPAID. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
