Overview

The Programme Officer will support the management and implementation of project activities related to the textiles and clothing and wider light manufacturing sector. This includes supporting MSMEs with knowledge and coaching to improve their competitiveness.


Key Responsibilities
  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned Fibres, Textiles and Clothing programmes/projects.
  • Performs consulting assignments, by planning facilitating workshops and assisting in developing action plans.
  • Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources on the FTC and leather sectors.
  • Assists in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends.
  • Undertakes survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses.
  • Prepares various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies.
  • Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.
  • Participates in or lead field missions.
  • Coordinates activities related to budget and funding.
  • Supervises national project staff and consultants.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in the fibre, textiles and clothing or leather sector is desirable.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in working on projects related to fibres or textiles or clothing or light manufacturing sector in developing countries is desirable.
  • A minimum of three years of experience experience working with brands/retailers in sourcing from developing countries is desirable.
  • Experience working on projects on environmental sustainability in the FTC sector is desirable.
  • Experience working on projects related to supply chain due diligence in the FTC or light manufacturing sector is desirable.
Qualifications
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field such as textile/manufacturing-related engineering. A first-level university degree in the above subjects in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Qualification in project management is desirable.
