Overview

This internship focuses on processing and analyzing environmental data and statistics, supporting the development of metadata for environmental indicators, and assisting with data collection for SDG indicators under UNEP custodianship.


Key Responsibilities
  • Process and analyze available environmental data and statistics
  • Support development and preparation of metadata for environmental indicators
  • Support data collection on the SDG indicators under UNEP custodianship
  • Review statistical publications
  • Assist in statistical methodological research
  • Organize and otherwise support meetings with partners within and outside UNEP
  • Assist in the creation of project documentation repositories and the publication of materials on UNEP's official websites
  • Assist in the development and dissemination of communication and outreach materials
  • Undertake other tasks as required by the office and in accordance with the intern's background
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Field of study: statistics, sociology, environmental economics, environmental assessments, environmental monitoring, data science or another related field is required.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
