Overview
Internship opportunity within the External Relations and Outreach of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, focusing on research and support for economic and social development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting research and reference searches on issues relating to economic development, social development and general areas of work
- Compiling, processing and working with socioeconomic databases derived from a variety of sources
- Supporting the draft of inputs to presentations, project documents and research papers, as well as the organization of meetings
- Surveying and preparing reports on the economic and social policy environment in the region
- Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed

Qualifications
- Enrolled in a graduate school programme (Second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
- Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent)
- Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above)
- Computer literate in standard software applications
- Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter
- Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views
