Overview

The internship at the ICT and Development Section is for individuals to assist with research, data analysis, programme support, communications, event coordination, and administrative duties related to ICT and digital transformation in the Asia-Pacific region.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting with research on ICT and digital agendas for sustainable development, contributing to publications.
  • Compiling and processing socio-economic data related to ICT development, potentially applying econometric skills and economic modeling.
  • Assisting officers in the implementation of regional projects and initiatives.
  • Supporting the maintenance and promotion of Section activities on the ESCAP website.
  • Providing logistical and substantive support for intergovernmental meetings and regional workshops.
  • Performing other substantive and administrative duties as requested.
Required Experience

• Applicants are not required to have significant work experience for the internship.

Qualifications
  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).
  • Applicants are recommended to have ICT knowledge in standard software applications.

Languages Required
• Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required for the Internship Programme.
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of another official UN language such as Chinese and Russian is an advantage.
Contract Duration
• two months and up to six months

Remuneration
• The internship is unpaid. • Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
